Prices in Aurora/Newmarket/EG 17% up - August Real Estate Market Report

During what has been the busiest summer in Real Estate in Toronto and the GTA, prices kept strong through August and were up on a year-over-year basis by approximately 17%.

The average price for a home in Aurora was $1,019,125. Although this represents a small decrease compared to July ($1,101,096), it's 17% higher than in last year's August ($869,239). The average price for a detached home in Aurora is $1,259,424.

Highest prices in Newmarket since Spring 2017

In Newmarket prices have never been higher since April 2017. A house cost $931,532 on average which is 16.5% more than one year ago ($799,386). 203 homes sold in Newmarket in August while there were 220 active listings. That's just a bit more than one month of inventory and stands for a very strong Seller's Market. Prices in East Gwillimbury have also increased by 17% year-over year from $827,831 in August 2019 to now $966,743.

40% more Sales, 20% higher prices

A total of 10,775 Sales were reported on the Toronto Real Estate Board's MLS System, which reflects an increase of 40.3% compared to August 2019 (7682). The average house price in Toronto and the GTA was $951,404 (up 20.1% compared to August 2019).
